About Dearborn Ford, in Kamloops, BC

We opened our store in 1925, as Kamloops locally owned Ford Store. Founder Ed Gillespie secured the rights for a Ford dealership and opened the shop in the 100-block Victoria Street in 1926. In 1945, Dearborn Ford supplied the first buses to the Civic Transportation Co. The dealership was then located at 520 Victoria Street, where the Executive Inn now stands.

Gordon Gamble purchased the dealership in 1955. During that time, he moved the dealership from its location at 520 Victoria around the corner to 5th and Lansdowne. Dave Gillespie, son of former owner Ed was employed at the time and he later went on to become a lawyer.

In 1968 Ron Bacon purchased the dealership from Gordon Gamble. Two years later, in1970, the dealership was moved to a new location, 1815 Trans-Canada Highway.

Ron Bacon’s son Mike has followed him into the business. They have continued Dearborn Ford’s long traditions of growth and leadership in the B.C. Interior.

Today, Dearborn Ford is one of the BC’s largest dealers. Dearborn has grown with Ford of Canada and now employs more than 70 people on the seven-acre site at 2555 East Trans Canada Highway. The complex has 34 service bays, and a 6,000 square foot showroom.
