With the rising cost of gas we have been asked by many of our clients at Dearborn Ford about the latest and greatest gas mileage enhancers and gas saving devices. There are a lot of manufacturers on the market that claim their gas saving devices work. These include gas saving chips, fuel products, engine add-on devices, magnets that ionize the fuel, and little pills placed in the gas tank. A lot of these products have been around for a while. In fact, every time gas prices rise or there is a "gas shortage" a new device appears on the market.

So is there any truth to these wild claims? Are you suddenly going to save a lot of money at the pump with a magic pill for your gas tank? Honestly. No! Don't waste your money - they don't work.

The EPA in the U.S. has tested hundreds of these products over the years and not found a single product that works. Furthermore, Consumer Reports recently tested several new products and found that none of them lived up to their claims.
